FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is your office?

My cozy office is in my home at 477 Walnut Lane, Princeton, NJ 08540.

Do I have to talk to someone else to reach you?

No, you can call me directly at 609-865-9902. I may not be able to answer you immediately, so you can leave me a voice mail or send me a text. You never have to go through another person to reach me.

How available are you between sessions?

My goal is to empower you so that you really don’t need me between sessions–however, should the need arise, you can call, text or email. I may not be able to get back to you immediately, but I will do my best. In the worst case scenario of a crisis, if I don’t respond to you immediately, you would need to dial 911 or go to the E.R. and call me from there.

Do you accept insurance? Why not?

I don’t accept insurance because it interferes with being able to provide you the highest quality care. I could say more here…don’t get me started…

What is my investment?

Your investment includes your time in session, your time working on goals between sessions, and your payment. The more honest, open and willing you are in session, the greater your benefit will be. Your financial investment is $300 for the first session (1 ½ to 2- hour Assessment) and $150 for each follow-up (45-50 minutes).

What about “out of network” insurance benefits?

Some people fortunately do have an “out of network” benefit, in which case I will provide you with an insurance-ready invoice. If you need help figuring out what your “out of network” benefits cover, I can help you with that. I have a one-page guideline of suggested questions to ask your insurance company when you call them to check on your benefits.

How long will this take?

I’m not trying to be evasive here, but it is different for each person. How long does it take to drive from New Jersey to California? There’s a minimum number of hours required, but the maximum amount of time is completely open ended. You are a unique person, so your experience in therapy will be completely unique as well. At the beginning of our work together, I will ask you, “If this therapy were to be helpful, how will you be different? How will your life be different?” If we can answer this question specifically, we’ll be able to tell when therapy is helping and then have a better idea of how much longer it will take. It’s a question we will return to frequently.

If I’m doing an excellent job, I will work myself out of a job. You will be feeling much, much better. My goal is to work myself out of my job as quickly and as efficiently as possible. It’s your life, and the greatest fruit of our work together is for you to feel fully empowered to handle things on your own….but remember I’m also always here (God willing) if you need support again.
